Racial & Cultural Equity is a practice-centered framework that embodies the belief that all people who have been historically underrepresented based on race, ethnicity, and other unique cultural intersections are represented in the development of policies, procedures, practices, and programming within all systems.
This practice ensures that systems are conscientious about addressing race, culture, biases, and power issues within the system and the communities it serves. In this context, Racial and Cultural Equity is intentionally linked to a broader social change agenda with the vision of bringing about social transformation for historically marginalized communities.
At Folsom Cordova Community Partnership, Racial and Cultural Equity will be the guiding principle that we will embed into every aspect of our work within the organization. This means that we will intentionally pause to reflect on the Racial and Cultural Equity implications as we make decisions and facilitate programming. Additionally, we will ensure that we are engaged in candid and authentic conversations about race and culture so we can surface blind spots and hold each other accountable to our values and norms.
