Each year The Folsom Cordova Community Partnership and the family of the Mayor of Rancho Cordova, Mr. Dan Skoglund organize The Skoglund Family Toy Drive In Rancho Cordova to provide toys/gifts for children age's birth to seventeen, who otherwise would not receive anything. In the last two years we helped over 1000 families through the toy drive by distributing toys to 2,000 children aged birth to seventeen. The families we serve are often faced with desperate decisions, such as buying food for their children, paying monthly rent and dealing with day to day challenges especially the pressures of the holiday season.

The Toy Drive begins in October and ends the week of Christmas. At the end of the Skoglund Family Toy Drive, the Folsom Cordova Community Partnership holds a distribution event like no other.  At this event, we provide food for all families who attend. We then partner them with community volunteers who share the language and culture of the families we serve and who act as their "personal shopper" in the Toy Room and help them select the perfect gifts for their children. This is the pinnacle part of the event because it allows parents to choose the toy/gift that their child will unwrap on Christmas morning rather than some anonymous donation placed in the trunk of their car as they drive through a fast food style line of cars. Once parents select the perfect toys/gifts for their children, they proceed to the "wrapping stations" where more community volunteers help them wrap the toys/gifts and volunteers from the Rancho Cordova Grocery Outlet transport their wrapped toys/gifts to their vehicles. All and all, this event provides a dignified holiday experience for the whole family. Please help us put a smile on a child's face this Christmas.
